THE STORY BEHIND 108 GYM

108 Gym was built on the belief that a gym should be

more than just a place to train — it should feel like home.

I’m Gary Manwaring, and I’ve spent over 20 years coaching in Hong Kong across boxing, Muay Thai, strength training, and helping bring strongman training into the mainstream of the 852 fitness scene.

Back in 2014–2015, most of my days were spent unloading strongman equipment in parks

and outdoor spaces around Hong Kong, running raw, outdoor training sessions

for people who wanted something different.

 

No shortcuts. No excuses. Just real training and real community.

That journey led to opening a dedicated gym with a former business partner,

where we built what became one of Hong Kong’s most respected gyms.

From that experience, I took the very best of what we created at my previous gyms,

combined it with new and fresh ideas,

and set out to build something that would take things to the next level.

108 Gym is the result.
